Fucking lag.

[–]Decatf 13 points14 points ago

Crappy team.

[–]shootx 1 point2 points ago

I read this in the voice of FPS Doug from Pure Pwnage....

FUCKING LAG YOU PIECE OF SHIT

[–]AdmirableAckbar 31 points32 points ago

You'd need an eightminute-long .gif for one of these between the Earth and the Sun. Crazy shit.

[–]RankMotleyMindedScut 13 points14 points ago

That I find more mindblowing. It's harder to be amazed by a 1.26 second delay but me waving hello won't be seen for 8 minutes? What the fuck?

[–]AATroop 15 points16 points ago

Wanna freak out your mind a bit more?

Have a super-powerful telescope (one that is un-achievable by today's standards-possibly ever) and place it 2,012 light years from Earth (would require instantaneous teleportation or light-speed travel accounting for time lost in travel). You could see Jesus walking the Earth. And then all of human history following it. Well, most of it anyway, as long as there aren't any obstructions blocking Earth and what you want to see is outside. However, that last part could change as they've recently developed cameras that can see around corners.

[–]Pointer1VB 9 points10 points ago

Nope... Exactly 2,012 years ago on this day Jesus was sick and was inside the whole day. Wouldn't be able to see him from space.

Holey crackers! That's amazing. Is there an article that says this, or what? Cuz i really wanna know more about this.

[–]TWK128 0 points1 point ago

Glad you found our community, Mr. President. Welcome!

[–]HughManatee 6 points7 points ago

Well, of course that relies on Jesus having existed.

[–]JohnAbruzzi 2 points3 points ago

Here you are: ukd5O.gif

[–]Dofley 1 point2 points ago

Fuck you, I sat there and watched that for 5 minutes before realizing I was an idiot.

[–]JohnAbruzzi 0 points1 point ago

Then you have gained knowledge about yourself; success?

[–]Pa1ncake 7 points8 points ago

I'm just picturing seeing the little indicator saying "Ping: 1260ms" in the bottom right hand corner constantly, and cringing.

[–]dawsx 4 points5 points ago

It'd be at least 2520ms for the round trip, plus however long it takes to get encoded, relayed, and decoded.

Death Star FTW

[–]MidEastBeast777 3 points4 points ago

This is what this gif reminds me of. A great clip, Powers of Ten

If we had a light source bright enough could we actually film this with a normal camera? I would love to shoot a beam from earth to the to the moon that's concentrated enough that if you could see earth, moon, and the beam with your naked eye like this picture.

[–]elconquistador1985 5 points6 points ago

You can't see a beam of light like the picture shows. The reason you can see a laser beam in air is because air scatters the light in the beam in all directions, some of which are towards your eyes. It won't scatter in a vacuum because there is nothing to scatter off of.

fucking awesome

[–]sirius_star 0 points1 point ago

Who's on the receiving end of that?

[–]Cheesecurler 7 points8 points ago

[–]rumpltrumpl 2 points3 points ago

378,000,000 meters.

[–]lompocmatt 1 point2 points ago

Getting longer every day

[–]fuknlingerer 0 points1 point ago

I was asking myself this question today.

[–]Jibun_Wo_Shinjiro 0 points1 point ago

how long is a pulse?

[–]jdann1 0 points1 point ago

Sorry

[–]Schonke 0 points1 point ago

Now make one of the 4,38 minute delay between Earth and Mars!
