If you're too high to take instructions you're too high to be at work.

I've worked blazed many a time and I always work my ass off. Getting dysfunctionally high for work gives hard-working stoners a bad name.

[–]bigsaltytears 43 points44 points ago

I work construction so when people come back from lunch blazed it really does piss me off. They never follow instructions very well and always return so I can explain for the tenth time how to do something.

Smoke on your time not when someone is paying for your time.

[–]leetdood 8 points9 points ago

Agreed... My take on it is, if you want to toke up for work, that's on you, and you better not be putting that on other people just because you can't fucken straighten up and do your job while stoned.

[–]blink_again_bitch 0 points1 point ago

what the hell, why not just not smoke before work

[–]Harrowin 3 points4 points ago

I'm sorry but if you know that people are getting high on a construction site you need to report them or confront them about it. That is the last place anyone should be out of their right mind, and it would be a tragedy for someone to get injured or killed because their coworker had to blaze up before operating the heavy machinery.

[–]PatrckBateman 20 points21 points ago

Agreed. I would never go to work or school high but seriously, you're just a bad employee if you're at work too stoned to take direction.

[–]Clit_C0mmander 4 points5 points ago

I always go to work high and always do an excellent job.

[–]Nickk_Jones 3 points4 points ago

School's a little different. It's more self involved, you fuck up, it's all on you. Work is a different story.

[–]Clit_C0mmander 4 points5 points ago

I also went to school high. Smoked a bowl every morning.

[–]blackdays99 3 points4 points ago

But how hard is clit commanding, really?

[–]dejatoo 3 points4 points ago

I get high as shit at work all the time. I work hard and don't have any problems. Its comics like this that make non-smokers ignorantly dislike weed and support its current state of illegality.... Maybe

[–]gameguy285 10 points11 points ago

weed is just really dependent on the person. i know people who would be twice as efficient at their job baked as fuck, and people who would be completely incompetent if they were even a little high. generalizing it into "being high at work is bad" isn't really a good way to go about it. i'd say if you want to try going to work blazed then sure, but if you suck at working high then DONT smoke and work anymore. realize your own faults and act accordingly. its all about responsibility

[–]dejatoo 3 points4 points ago

Touche fine Sir

[–]aaybma 11 points12 points ago

Exactly, it is the same as being drunk at work. Don't be a douche.

[–]GammaScorpii 6 points7 points ago

Sometimes it can work in your favour, othertimes not. It really depends what your job entails. If you're required to listen and interract with people (and if what you do is quite demanding), it's obviously best to do it sober. Other jobs where you're required to complete the same mundane tasks repeatedly, or if you work alone, being high can actually keep you interested in what you're doing.

[–]snulls 14 points15 points ago

i do this when i'm sober. i believe i'm horrible at listening to other peoples request.

[–]hsdgfkhjasdgfl 12 points13 points ago

If you're too stoned to follow basic instructions (or complex, if that's part of your job) then you need to stop getting high before work, you are making the rest of us look bad by association.

It shouldn't happen at all, is the point.

[–]Lick_My_Nuts 13 points14 points ago

Just do your damn job.

[–][deleted] 19 points20 points ago

If you showed up to work high, I would fire your ass.

[–]AH64 11 points12 points ago

I think it depends on your job. I'm a designer and it only helps my work.

[–]Phallic 2 points3 points ago

I'm a bartender and... yeah...

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points ago

Fair enough

[–]GammaScorpii 3 points4 points ago

"...uhh...the things?"

[–]mchugho 9 points10 points ago

Don't go to work high, it's not worth it.

[–]csampson 4 points5 points ago

My favourite part of r/trees is when it turns super judgemental. You can practically call out the first 5 comment threads every time. If this dude wants to do that at work, then fine, he will live with the consequences. I don't think we need 10 preachers.

[–]bsonk 1 point2 points ago

Yeah, but I think the idea is that this dude is giving all stoners a bad name by getting so high at work that he can't perform his work effectively. There are people who work in things like music production and graphic design for whom getting baked before work is a performance enhancer, but if you are getting too blazed to serve at the drive-thru window then you need to cut down.

[–]csampson 1 point2 points ago

I totally understand where you're coming from, but if someone wants to classify all "stoners" based off of one immature employee (who is clearly being irresponsible), than fuck that person. Close, narrow minded individuals aren't really worth our time.

[–]bsonk 0 points1 point ago

Close, narrow minded individuals aren't really worth our time.

Yes, but they tend to exert undue influence over government policy.

[–]bakdom146 0 points1 point ago

No, man, it's only bad when the government tells you what to do with your body. When snotty stoners want to get judgmental and tell you how to live, that's legit. "Oh no, you're only damaging your own career but I'm going to make it about me for a minute here."

[–]mogo99[S] 0 points1 point ago

Thank you! Have a pineapple.

[–]csampson 0 points1 point ago

Don't mean any offence OP, I'm sure you're a good dude at heart.

[–]thatonenerdistaken 1 point2 points ago

I went to math class high once. It was impossible.

[–]nollie_ollie 1 point2 points ago

I juggle three jobs, so I can't get high before/during work. :[

[–]Ratlettuce 3 points4 points ago

You are an idiot and this isnt funny.

[–]AH64 1 point2 points ago

Isn't*

[–]Ratlettuce -3 points-2 points ago

[–]AH64 1 point2 points ago

There was too much irony, I had to. Also, I don't think you needed to point out the sarcasm.

[–]Ratlettuce 0 points1 point ago

I do.

[–]Foley1 1 point2 points ago

I'm really bad at this, as soon as I see my boss about to tell me to do something, I start thinking "oh god she's about to say something, you should listen instead of thinking about this"

[–]YetzirahToAhssiah 0 points1 point ago

This is why you shouldn't get high at work. What you just described is your job performance being affected in a negative way.

[–]eternal-rapture 0 points1 point ago

Luckily as an art student we're pretty much expected to ignore most directions we're given, and being high only makes your thought processes more...unexpected, which as far as creativity goes is usually a good thing :]

[–]noweezernoworld 0 points1 point ago

Hahaha, I always re-read stupid Homer quotes in Fry's voice too. Usually works perfectly

[–]thestairway67 0 points1 point ago

This... is why I don't do that..... BUT..... It's funny.
