It's been a long time since I've seen the movie, but as I recall there's at least one rape scene in it. She's forced into a machine that's supposed to kill her with pleasure. The fact that she ends up killing the machine instead doesn't change the fact that it was a forced sexual act.

Heck, for me at age 10 (when this movie came out on Select TV), a close-up of a young Jane Fonda faking an orgasm was fap material.

I don't get why in the US sexualized imagery is more censored than violence. Violence always has negative repercussions, but 99% of sex is caring, loving, sharing or mutual enjoying.

I'm stealing someone else's post here, but the best explanation I heard was because violence on scripted television is simulated. Nudity (and profanity) are not, that's stuff that kids can't be told isn't real, because, well, it is. But obviously, no, that guy didn't really get shot in the head, it was just corn syrup and CGI.

Obviously there's still a debate over which is more harmful to children, but I think that brings a lot of rationale to the other side.

I don't really want to defend the double standard here but it bothers me that no one ever acknowledges that sexuality is essentially psychological and violence is essentially external. You can do things to a person's sexuality through media, but while you can mess with their head with portrayals extreme violence or desensitize them to violence you can't cause actual violence in their lives.

Right, exactly. If you get some weird fucked-up idea of how to do violence, who cares? You shouldn't be doing it.

Like that idiotic thing about holding your gun sideways. Messes up your aim, the recoil pulls you off target, and you're like to get a jam anyway.

But who cares if a bunch of gangbangers cannot shoot properly. It's probably a good thing to mislead morons about how to commit crimes.

Imagine that kids watched porn a lot and thought, "So that's how you're supposed to have sex?" We'd live in a really fucked-up world then. For one thing, it would be impossible to get pizza delivered.

True, but the system in the USA is still incredibly inefficient, so on a per-case base in other Western countries identical cancer treatment is generally going to be less expensive, alongside the fact that their systems aren't as motivated to jack up the price.

Yeah for sure. The initial biopsy was over 800$ out of pocket (that's with really good insurance) and we had 2 more surgeries after that... It's sad that even with good insurance you're broke, and if we wouldn't have had insurance I doubt he would have had any treatment yet.
