Alternative title: Little girl kicks down paintings and vandalizes art museum.

[–]paradeigmas 17 points18 points ago

More like "little girl kicked by art"

[–]knightofmars 1 point2 points ago

And maced by first officer on scene then punched by the second.

[–]trauma_kmart 6 points7 points ago

Or: Little girl trips on railing and falls backwards.

[–]21yrgirl 2 points3 points ago

Little girl painting mover

[–]Gadren 1 point2 points ago

[–]Nistune 15 points16 points ago

Ahh this is in Kelvingrove in Glasgow, Scotland. Its really pretty, ended up getting a small poster of it.

[–]LD9050 3 points4 points ago

When I clicked the link my stupid brain went "Oh cool, we have one of those at Kelvingrove as well. I wonder if they have them at every gallery".

[–]snecko 0 points1 point ago

Came here to check this, thank you. Wasn't sure if my brain was lying to me or not.

[–]Lord_Bumberchute 44 points45 points ago

It's Rainbow Brite!

[–]TragicEther 2 points3 points ago

That was my first thought!

[–]DerHelm 1 point2 points ago

I felt awkward being a guy and noticing this too.

[–]WarpvsWeft 46 points47 points ago

[–]Bitsy13 19 points20 points ago

You sound like my ballet teacher. She is an old Russian lady, and she sounds exactly like this. Just add: VHY YOU NO LOOK AT ME VHEN I SHOW

[–]WarpvsWeft 11 points12 points ago

I dated a dancer -- do you also have really jacked-up feet?

[–]Bitsy13 12 points13 points ago

Hell yes. Pointe shoes are torture devices.

[–]aleale223 0 points1 point ago

I want my pointe shoes so badly how old were you when you got them.

[–]Bitsy13 0 points1 point ago

11 :)

[–]aleale223 0 points1 point ago

Ooh cool :)

[–]futuramadog 63 points64 points ago

This might be the cutest picture I've ever seen.

[–]ndufour 0 points1 point ago

It's also the most accurate title I've ever seen.

[–]Lawlta 7 points8 points ago

Life imitating art.

[–]yellowcardigan 7 points8 points ago

Can someone tell me what this painting is called?

[–]itwasthegoatisay 3 points4 points ago

I would like to know this as well

[–]mercurialish 28 points29 points ago

Anna Pavlova, by John Lavery, painted in 1910

[–]Take_The_Reins 1 point2 points ago

Yup, the ballerina with the dessert named after her

[–]stevedoredolly 1 point2 points ago

Sound mouth watering.

[–]itwasthegoatisay 0 points1 point ago

Thank you!

[–]moarmango 6 points7 points ago

There is something sublime about this photo I just can't articulate. I almost want to see an old woman standing off to the side.

edit: n/m, that would probably ruin it

[–]danceswithwool 22 points23 points ago

Now where is that Shitty_Watercolour. I'd really like to see this one. Art imitating life, imitating art.

[–]tard_painting 22 points23 points ago

dont worry guys i got this http://i.imgur.com/yYc4M.jpg

[–]lollipop_guildz 7 points8 points ago

Amazing. A modern day Kandinsky. Really.

[–]Boromarl 2 points3 points ago

I like you.

[–]jaques34 1 point2 points ago

I appreciate you filling in when we needed you most.

[–]whoknowsifitsmeornot 0 points1 point ago

Damn now there is coffee all over my monitor. Thanks. :-/

[–]LegallyRed 34 points35 points ago

Alternate title: Lucky little girl with people in her life that think it is never too early to learn to appreciate art.

[–]Bitter_Idealist 7 points8 points ago

Probably not. Probably her parents dragged her there and she threw a well placed tantrum.

[–]LegallyRed 8 points9 points ago

Hey, at least they made the effort as opposed to just putting her in front of the TV with some mindless cartoon on a loop.

[–]mintmarshall 4 points5 points ago

for those interested, this is a painting entitled 'Anna Pavlova' by sir John Lowery.

[–]putnut00 7 points8 points ago

This is what painting is for.

[–]TiltWarningCustoms 9 points10 points ago

Formative years. So beautiful.

[–]fredbud13 9 points10 points ago

Assuming the parents didn't tell little girl to pose like that, this is beautiful. Exactly what art should do to people.

[–]ChupeeJune 8 points9 points ago

I dunno, I have a hard time believing that she felt so "moved" by the art that she had to dance or anything like that. When I was a kid I would have just found it fun trying to copy the poses.

[–]WeaponsGradeHumanity 16 points17 points ago

Pretty sure that's what she's actually doing.

[–]AdrNN 4 points5 points ago

Would you say, the paintings inspired you to do different kind of poses and having fun while doing so? :)

[–]ChupeeJune -1 points0 points ago

Inspired yes, "moved" no. That word makes it seem like I had such a strong emotional reaction to it that I just had to mimic it! When really it would have been more like "I wonder if I could do that; that looks fun."

[–]AdrNN 5 points6 points ago

Getting "moved" in the melodramatic sense by stuff like art/movies/music comes with age and experience I think. Children getting "moved" like I think you percieve, is a very rare thing. Children are careless and spontaneous creatures, the little girl here probably sees a woman dancing without sensing the real drama of the pose.

Depends how much you put into the word I guess. To me a child getting inspired and getting "moved" is kinda the same thing really. Ohh well, different perceptions. :)

[–]IamAFisch[S] 3 points4 points ago

I was actually going to title this "little girl inspired by art" at first, but I thought "moved" was be a more fun play on words since she's actually dancing. Kinda agreed with you on children being "inspired" and "moved" as being really similar as well.

[–]fredbud13 1 point2 points ago

I'm confused as to why you keep putting quotes around the word "moved."

[–]ChupeeJune 0 points1 point ago

To indicate that I'm quoting from OP's title and it isn't my own choice of word.

[–]fredbud13 1 point2 points ago

Apologies, somehow I completely disregarded the title. I thought you were referencing something I said.

Inspiration.

[–]imaznumkay 4 points5 points ago

that is awesome

[–]54321whysoserious 2 points3 points ago

"Art is amazing. It is not best appreciated by the simple or the complex minds, but by those with an open heart." My father.

[–]slugagainstsalt 0 points1 point ago

When I was about that age, I always wanted to imitate pictures and paintings I saw. Whether it was a pose or a facial expression, I wanted to do. Once I started baby sitting as a teen, the little girls I baby sat would do the same thing. I think is precious. All the faces and poses they would make when we saw things made me laugh.

[–]phaeton_didnt_quit 2 points3 points ago

as a once upon a time art major, this photo made me the happiest all day.

[–]elweenieloco 7 points8 points ago

more like, bored at a museum.

[–]Fyrus 0 points1 point ago

"mommy look at how silly this lady is"

[–]simjanes2k 2 points3 points ago

Little girls do this to the TV thousands of times per day: "She's going to be a dancer!"

Little girl does this to a painting once: "LOOK how GREAT ART IS"

[–]WeaponsGradeHumanity 6 points7 points ago

Well, art IS pretty great.

[–]Ratlarbig 1 point2 points ago

Moved by art, or by her parents who told her to dance in front of the picture so they could take a picture?

[–]chipjet 2 points3 points ago

She needs to work on her arm placement. Good start though.

[–]leg4li2ati0n 2 points3 points ago

She's just a little girl okay?!

[–]stevemcqueer 1 point2 points ago

You never would've realised how weird the pose was unless you saw someone try it. (It may be that reading comic books has skewed my perception of what a realistic pose is).

[–]SayceGards 0 points1 point ago

Is that supposed to represent Isadora Duncan? Looks very.... Duncan-esque.

[–]clownpornstar 1 point2 points ago

I have a tiny princess who would do that if we lived near an art museum that was worth a damn.

[–]ewitsinmyhair 0 points1 point ago

She looks like a human Rainbow Brite!

[–]mgoblue37 0 points1 point ago

DIA?

[–]Senso_no_Hachidori 1 point2 points ago

Fantastic!

[–]sunny_person 1 point2 points ago

She looks like Rainbow Brite!

[–]JMAO 0 points1 point ago

Art and empathy at its best. This is precious.

[–]wheatacres -1 points0 points ago

She's going to be an artist when she grows up. Better bury her in art supplies and Leonardo da Vinci themed knick knacks.

[–]Patso55 0 points1 point ago

This is just a coincidence. It looks like she's mimicking the painting, but she's really practicing her kicks for the Ninja Initiation Program

[–]Big_Twink_III 0 points1 point ago

listening to this song when i clicked the link. seems fitting...skatalites, jackie mittoo, el bang bang http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OP98QGUgYzM

[–]TheHeff 0 points1 point ago

the problem with being a dancer is this: the first thing I noticed is the chick in the paintings foot isn't pointed

[–]lollipop_guildz 0 points1 point ago

This is beautiful.

[–]MmelaReine -1 points0 points ago

As a museum educator, I must say it is awesome that this post is so popular.

[–]Grimmbles -1 points0 points ago

This made me smiled. Kids are awesome when I don't have to be anywhere near them.

[–]SinofOmission 0 points1 point ago

Ghostbusters 2 would've been a better movie if that was the painting that came to life.

[–]leg4li2ati0n 0 points1 point ago

She's like.. what do i do now?

[–]literallyobjectively -1 points0 points ago

this is amazing, but... she is a bit close to the painting(!!)

[–]SpaceMagician 0 points1 point ago

I bet she doesn't even understand it...

[–]Jett202 2 points3 points ago

She has a very in-depth grasp of what the "BIIIYETCH, it's Friday" dance looks like. At such an early age, too. She is a child prodigy.

[–]dar482 0 points1 point ago

Anyone can name the painting/museum?

[–]samisbond 1 point2 points ago

I'm glad she picked the one painting in the museum where the woman wasn't naked.

[–]missesrobinson 0 points1 point ago

spirit fingers

[–]TheLobotomizer 0 points1 point ago

This looks like it's at the Getty Center.

[–]ademu5 0 points1 point ago

Is that at Crystal Brooks?

[–]SpacificNocean 1 point2 points ago

When I was a kid, my parents used to take us to museums a lot. I usually hated it, obviously, as most kids do, but we would play this game where we would go into the middle of the room and close our eyes while pointing, spin around, and stop. Wherever I stopped would be 'our' painting of the room, and we'd look at it and talk about it for a while.

It's easy to think art is stuffy and boring, but it's just as easy to make it fun and exciting. Wheee!

[–]btitcomb 0 points1 point ago

I do believe that next to that painting it says no photography...boo shame

[–]thatguy141 0 points1 point ago

Where is that art gallery? It looks a lot like the AGO (Art Gallery of Ontario).

[–]Gnarberry 0 points1 point ago

She looks like Jeanette from Alvin and the Chipmunks

[–]Grixus 0 points1 point ago

x-post this to /r/photoshopbattles

[–]joaq 0 points1 point ago

"I'm learning some amazing moves from this guy."

[–]BJUmholtz 1 point2 points ago

Music of today will make her a stripper.

[–]nic_Z -1 points0 points ago

I love being the 2000th up vote

[–]daroons 0 points1 point ago

Looks more like a curb stomp to me.

[–]TheLostWinter 0 points1 point ago

I KNOW WHERE THIS IS!!!

[–]Distressed_Ocelot 0 points1 point ago

Anna Pavlova; I always thought that this painting summed up Joie de vivre: Stunning.

[–]IMBJR 0 points1 point ago

I saw that piece recently and was impressed that the artist had managed to catch the stage lighting so well, despite finishing the piece in his studio.

[–]Yousernaim -1 points0 points ago

Don't let her see porn

[–]imstartingover -1 points0 points ago

That's the cutest thing i've seen all week!!!

[–]THE_CAREGIVER 1 point2 points ago

"I don't care who's watching, I just need to DANCE!"

[–]Danez -2 points-1 points ago

Well children are also moved by blue's clues so let's not get too "moved" ourselves.

[–]BeardTheBeerBard -5 points-4 points ago

Did anyone else think... she's too close to that painting!?

[–]lecorboosier 1 point2 points ago

the best way to experience visual art is by touching it

[–]veloceracing -2 points-1 points ago

This makes me realize what art is all about. To illicit a reaction. Well done artist who I have no idea who you are.

I want to make something that inspires someone, just in the way that little girl was inspired.

[–]beej_ 0 points1 point ago

I smiled.

[–]mattrick88 -2 points-1 points ago

Careful, the Today show might pick this up and call you a bad parent.

[–]Mikes_friend_Tyler -2 points-1 points ago

This is beautiful

[–]villainoust -2 points-1 points ago

She is too close to the painting!

[–]the_psycho -4 points-3 points ago

I read the title as: little girl moved by fart.
